Das besonders Schöne an diesen letzten Sätzen eines wirklich lesenswerten, schönen Buches ist das Futur. Beide Sätze kommen am Anfang des Kapitels bereits vor, da noch im Präsens. Der Tempuswechsel führt hier – trotz Wechsel in die Zukunft – zur Betonung der Vergänglichkeit, ist doch hier längst klar, dass es für den hier Handelnden keine Zukunft geben wird.

Wenn einmal die Geschichte des deutschsprachigen Abschiedsliedes geschrieben worden ist, dann ist „Nur mit Dir“ darin entweder ein Ehrenplatz eingeräumt worden – oder es ist ein Werk geworden, das seiner Aufgabe nicht gerecht wurde. Distelmeyer hat viele großartige, bewegende Songs geschrieben, aber mit „Nur mit dir“ hat er sichergestellt, dass die Zeit nach Blumfeld nicht nur seine Frank Black-Phase ist, sondern eher seine Robbie Williams-Zeit. „Nur mit dir“ ist vielleicht nicht „Angels“, aber schon „Eternity“ – und dann gibt es da ja auch noch „Murmel“. Die beiden Songs alleine rechtfertigen dieses Konzert, rechtfertigen den Eintrittspreis, die Anreise, die Wartezeit. Allerdings nicht die T-Shirt-Preise: 20 €? Junger Mann, das wäre selbst dann nicht gerechtfertigt, wenn Ihnen was total Flottes eingefallen wäre. Für 10 € hätte ich das „heavy“ World Trade Center gekauft, aber nicht für das Doppelte. So bleibt ein Konzert, das auch bei Distelmeyer wohl Spuren hinterlassen mag, denn die letzte Zugabe („Old Nobody“) wirkte wie eine _wirkliche_ Zugabe, wie ein Tribut an die Begeisterung, die Songs wie „Status: Quo Vadis“ und „Pro Familia“ entfachten. Und eben auch „Murmel“ und „Nur mit dir“: Die neuen Stampfer bringen uns nicht weiter, wer hat das Taschentuch?

Trotzdem: Eine Fussnote zur Geschichte von Blumfeld wird die Existenz als Individuum bleiben, wenn der eigentliche Kulminationspunkt so etwas wie „Pro Familia“ bleibt. Verjüngt sich eigentlich im Fluchtpunkt. Regen oder nicht. Mein eigenes T-Shirt: Die Welle von „Nowhere“. Die 90er, die Wohlfahrtsausschüsse, der Gedanke, es könnte anders kommen können. Jetzt bleibt: Dancing Barefoot. Und mehr Gitarrenwechsel als Sonic Youth, Distelmeyer wechselt ca. nach jedem Lied die Gitarre. Weil: Warum nicht.

Das Gute ist: Aus „Corpus Delicti“ spricht eine kompromisslose Haltung, die uns allen gut täte. Aber die Umsetzung dieser Haltung ist von einer gewissen Beliebigkeit, die kaum mitreisst. Irgendwann in der Oberstufe hat vermutlich jeder zweite Gymnasiast, der was auf seine künstlerische Ader gab, mit der ordentlich betroffenen Vertonung von literarischen Texten experimentiert. Und das ist das Schlechte: „Corpus Delicti“ ist nicht an allen Stellen weit genug davon entfernt, einen solchen Eindruck zu machen. Ob das die bedeutungsschwangeren Pausen, die nur leidlich originellen Klangwelten, oder auch die doch bisweilen klischeehafte Verbindung von Wort und Ton sind – vieles ist so offensichtlich gut gemeint, dass es doch schade ist, dass es nicht besser ist.

Denn das Zusammenspiel auf der Bühne, die jedenfalls in Berlin durchaus merkbaren technischen Probleme mal außen vor, zwischen Slut und Juli Zeh funktioniert schon. Es entstehen vereinzelte Momente, in denen angedeutet wird, was hätte sein können. Einige Songs funktionieren, vielleicht könnten sie sogar für sich stehen. Aber selbst als Slutgutfinder fällt es leicht zu sagen, dass die Songs jetzt keine wesentlich bemerkenswerte Erweiterung des Slut‘schen Oeuvres darstellen. So dass das Experiment insgesamt zwar sicherlich feuilletonkompatibel, aber leider nicht überzeugend ist

This is a trashy movie. And why wouldn‘t it be? Tarantino currently makes a lot of hoop-la with a trashy movie on Nazis. The trash-factor isn‘t what makes this movie annoying, it is its alleged seriousness. Gila Almagor does a good job of representing a woman ashamed of her fame, but the final act of “The Debt“ is pure farce. What‘s worse is that it is farce that takes itself seriously.The most devastating (self-)revelation of (about) the movie comes with Edgar Selge‘s admission that he agreed to do this movie as an act of reconciliation, ultimately asking for forgiveness – not for his acting, but for German history. In German there is a saying: The opposite of good is well-meant. Edgar Selge‘s acting is not so much a cause for embarrasment as it is for pity – to consider a contribution to this movie a contribution to the reconciliation between Jews and Germans is to overestimate a well-meaning movie that has very little to say.

The confrontation between the descendants of victims and perpetrators is reduced to a staring contest between evil and discomfort.It turns ugly when evil takes to action and the Israeli agents fail to be evil enough to respond in kind. Instead, they turn to storytelling that saves their reputation and the Nazi‘s life. So they turn themselves into heroes, but the heroic act never took place. It could have been an interesting exposition, exploring heroism and its content, but instead the movie sends its actors, 30 years older and in fear of their reputation, on what looks like a wild goose chase and plays out as a farce in an old people‘s home. They all die in the end.

But the attraction of War Crimes Trials as a means to achieve justice remains, as of now, just a promise. Some reports have Jolie down as a witness in the trial against Lubanga, and it would be indeed interesting to hear how she would qualify. Expert witness? Well, if moral outrage at abhorrent behaviour alone would be enough to qualify to serve justice, we‘d all be not only witnesses, but judges! It is way too early to make much of Moreno Ocampo‘s track record, but he certainly knows how to put himself in the spotlight. He‘s far out-Del Ponte-ing Carla Del Ponte, yet the merits of this approach seem questionable. As it is, there is hardly any public understanding of the limits and limitations of international criminal prosecutions – and the self-serving popularisation hardly contributes to furthering this understanding. This, then, is probably what‘s so seriously wrong with this picture: The image appears so familiar, so easy to understand that we can easily believe that not only do we understand the crimes under investigation under international criminal law, but also how to bring them to justice and thus bring justice to the places in which those crimes occurred. Of this we should be very sceptical.
